Throughout the past year I’ve done a semi-regular (as in when I remember) series of photos based on “stuff I found in my house to photograph”.
Originally started when in strict lockdown and not allowed to travel further than the local shop. I mostly used assorted props I found in the house, and cuttings from the garden. Being stuck in a house move upped the challenge somewhat as we didn’t have access to a lot of our stuff.
Earlier this year I changed the format a little and decided to dedicate a week (5 working days) to a subject at a time. This allowed me to explore some techniques in a lot more depth.
I was slightly dreading the week of self-portraits, mostly because I hate being on the other side of the camera. I adjusted fairly quickly and started to really enjoy it by the end. My ideas were slightly frustrated by having to take all the photos in our house (my restriction), which is quite cluttered. It ended up mostly being headshots (not enough space to do much else).
You can see more details of these and regular updates on my Facebook page.
Here’s a selection of my wonky face from the 5 days of self-portraits…
