Stare into the smoke long enough and see the faces of angels waiting there.

Winter blossoms hide in the smoke.

The smoke blossomed and died, the shortest life cycle we had seen.

It’s all just smoke and bones she said. I turned to respond but she had never been there.

Reflected and ephemeral.

Fading like smoke but I shine like a star.
